Ukraine is also grateful for humanitarian aid

On Friday, January 19, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with President of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the conversation, the Head of State expressed sincere gratitude for the recognition and support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also expressed gratitude for the UAE's positive contribution to facilitating the exchange of prisoners. Zelensky announced this on his Telegram channel.

"The return of people home is a priority for Ukraine, so we look forward to the Emirates' further active role," he said.

The President emphasized that Ukraine is also grateful for humanitarian aid. He specified that last week Kyiv had received a large batch of more than 1,500 generators. In the context of Russian air terror, such assistance is critical.

During the conversation, the parties also discussed the possibility of long-term financial support from the UAE, as well as cooperation in the implementation of the Peace Formula.

"I told them about the start of preparations for the Global Peace Summit and invited the UAE to join the process. The voice of the Gulf countries is important to us," Zelensky summarized.

As a reminder, this is the third foreign visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin since his troops invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Now, having been recognized as a war criminal by the International Criminal Court, he visited the United Arab Emirates, with Flight 1 being escorted to the airport in Abu Dhabi by four Su-35S. The arrival of the dictator became a real celebration in the Middle Eastern state, Putin was greeted like a sheikh.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) agreed to limit direct re-exports to Russia. We are talking about goods that Russia uses in the war against Ukraine. Moreover, Turkey may take similar measures. This will help to reduce the flow of military goods to the aggressor country, although re-exports through third parties will still remain.
