Slovak President Zuzana Chaputova arrived in Kyiv on May 10 for a "farewell" visit. She said she had good news about helping Ukraine.

"Today I arrived in Kyiv on a farewell visit. I am here for the fourth time during my tenure, the third time during the war. I am also here because I have good news about Slovakia's assistance to Ukraine," Zuzana Chaputova wrote on Facebook.

Later, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on her arrival in the capital, publishing a video of the meeting.

According to him, the situation at the front was discussed during the talks.

"We welcome to Ukraine Mrs. Zuzana Chaputova, the President of Slovakia, and thank her for her determination and moral leadership in this war. Today we discussed the situation at the frontline in detail. I informed about another Russian attempt to expand the offensive in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions and also about our needs, including armed forces, to thwart what the occupier is trying to do," the president wrote on his official Telegram channel.

Zelenskyy added that not all of Ukraine's partners are currently fulfilling the agreements promptly, so Ukrainians need the maximum focus of Ukraine's friends to speed up supplies.

"I am grateful to every leader who helps us in this," the president said.

Earlier, Slovak presidential spokesman Martin Stryzhynets told CTK about Chaputova's visit to Kyiv but did not disclose details of his program.

According to Slovak media reports, Chaputova is making farewell visits to various countries as her term of office expires in mid-June.

"I have come at the moment of saying goodbye to the presidency, and I am also glad that I can bring good news from Slovakia about helping Ukraine," she said during an overnight train ride from Poland, recalling the fundraising in Slovakia to buy ammunition for Ukraine, the Denník N. newspaper reports.

The organizers of the campaign announced this week that the first 4 million euros raised during the fundraiser will go to purchase artillery shells that the Ukrainian army lacks.

The newspaper reported that Chaputova would meet, among others, with her Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and other Ukrainian officials.

Unlike the current Slovak government of Prime Minister Robert Fico, Chaputov supports the provision of military assistance to Ukraine, Slovak media report. After taking office in the fall of 2023, Fico's government stopped supplying military equipment to Ukraine from state stocks.

Chaputova's last trip as president will symbolically be to the Czech Republic. She will be replaced by Fico's ally Petr Pellegrini, who defeated diplomat Ivan Korčok in the April second round of presidential elections. Chaputova began to seek re-election.
