Biden says G20 summit reignited agreement on peace in Ukraine: could countries' compromise statement increase pressure on Russian Federation

US President Joe Biden has said that at the G20 summit in India the countries came to an agreement on the issue of the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to the US leader, the summit participants called for the establishment of a lasting and just peace.

Biden emphasized that most G20 countries support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He said this during a briefing at the White House.

The US president noted that the issue of the war in Ukraine was raised at the G20 summit. Biden assured that during the discussion there was agreement on the need for a just and lasting peace.

"We discussed Russia's brutal and illegal war in Ukraine. And there was enough agreement in the room on the need for a just and lasting peace that upholds the principles of the UN Charter and respects sovereignty and territorial integrity," Biden said.

According to the Financial Times, the final statement of the G20 summit in India was a "compromise". The West believes that this decision should help Ukraine's partners convince developing countries to increase pressure on the aggressor country Russia.
