Zelenskyy: if we do not get a signal at the NATO summit, we have nothing to do there

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expects the North Atlantic Alliance to give Ukraine a "clear signal" on membership at its summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, in the summer of 2023. If this is not the case, our country's representatives will have "nothing to do" at this meeting.

This statement was made during the President's interview with The Wall Street Journal. He believes that Ukraine could join NATO after a full-scale war unleashed by Russia.

"If we are not seen [in NATO] and if some signal is not given in Vilnius [at the NATO summit], I think Ukraine has nothing to do at this summit," Zelenskyy told the foreign media.

He accused some alliance leaders of being afraid of Russian Federation. "I believe that some NATO countries are so afraid of Russia that they are not ready to see Ukraine in the alliance," the president said.

"How many lives are worth one phrase at the Vilnius summit, how many lives of Ukrainians are worth a phrase: 'Ukraine will be in NATO after this war, after it is safe'. How much is it worth?" - he asked.
