Zelensky submitted the appointment of Umerov as Defense Minister to the Verkhovna Rada: all the details

Zelensky submitted Umerov's candidacy for the post of Defense Minister

President Volodymyr Zelensky filed a bill to appoint Rustem Umerov as Defense Minister on September 5. The latter will replace Oleksiy Reznikov, who headed the Defense Ministry throughout the year and a half of the full-scale war.

The corresponding document is published on the website of the Verkhovna Rada. To pass the vote of MPs, it must be considered by the relevant committees.

Umerov's submission will be considered by the Committee on the budget under the leadership of Roksolana Pidlasa and anti-corruption policy issues under the leadership of Anastasia Radina. The bill will be put on the agenda of the next meeting of deputies of the Verkhovna Rada after.

Last week Zelensky announced the removal of Oleksiy Reznikov as Defence Minister, who became a figurehead of numerous corruption scandals. This post may be taken by Rustem Umerov, who has positively proved himself in the past.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Umerov submitted a request for resignation as the head of the State Property Fund to Parliament the day before. The Nardeps should vote in favor of personnel reshuffles.
