Zelensky and von der Leyen coordinate positions before the European Council meeting
On Sunday, December 10, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The politicians coordinated their positions before the European Council meeting.
The Head of State reported this on Telegram. The President thanked for the high appreciation of Ukraine's work to implement all the recommendations of the European Commission.
He expressed hope for the allocation of €50 billion and the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
"Europe must resolutely defend its values and its unity. I know that we can count on the support of Mrs. President in this," the President emphasized.
The conversation took place during the President's visit to Argentina.
To recap, Zelensky also held talks with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. The focus was on the events at the front and the current needs of the Ukrainian army, which is repelling Russian aggression.
"I informed Emmanuel about the developments at the front and thanked him for the military assistance provided by France. We discussed our priority needs and the next French defense package, which will significantly increase Ukraine's firepower," the President of Ukraine said.
