The Ukrainian head of state held a number of talks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska have arrived in Sweden on a working visit. The Ukrainian head of state is planning several talks, the topics of which will include defense cooperation and Ukraine's European integration.
Zelensky reported about the trip on his official Telegram channel on August 19. He noted that it includes meetings with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, King Carl XVI and Queen Silvia, Speaker Andreas Norlen and chairmen of parliamentary parties.
"Extensive Ukrainian-Swedish talks. I thank Sweden for the support of our struggle for freedom and independence," Zelensky wrote.
The President also revealed the details of the negotiations.
"Our primary task is to strengthen Ukrainian warriors on the ground and in the sky, the development of bilateral cooperation, in particular in the defense industry, European integration of Ukraine and common security in the Euro-Atlantic space. We support Sweden on its way to NATO. We are confident that together we will guarantee reliable peace in the entire Baltic-Black Sea-Azov region," the statement said.
Later Zelensky said that the main topic of talks with the Swedish Prime Minister will be defense cooperation:
"We begin negotiations with the Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson. There is a wide agenda, but the top priority is defense cooperation, including powerful Swedish CV-90s. Our soldiers are already using them on the front line effectively. We are also planning to produce CV-90s in Ukraine".
