"We want peace, but Ukrainians will not change their attitude towards Russians": the main points of Zelenskyy's interview with Fox News after his meeting with Trump

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was grateful to US President Donald Trump and the American people for their help. "You helped us survive," he said. The Head of State also commented on the events of February 28 at the White House, the fate of the minerals agreement and security guarantees.

Trump must understand that no one wants to end the war as much as Ukrainians do. That is why our president came to the United States, because without American support it will be difficult for us. Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Fox News on the night of March 1 after meeting with Trump at the White House.

"I think this dispute (between him, Trump, and Vance – Ed.) is bad for both sides. I am open-minded. But I can't change the attitude of Ukrainians towards the Russians who are killing us. They are our enemies!" the guarantor emphasized.

He explained why he had a dispute with US Vice President J.D. Vance. Zelenskyy noted that he had repeatedly asked politicians to be correct and careful with numbers and words when talking about the dead Ukrainians and the territories captured by the enemy.

He tried to explain to the US president that there is nothing to negotiate with dictator Putin, as he always violates agreements. However, when asked whether Donald Trump was right that he would never sign an agreement with the Russian leader, Zelenskyy said no.

According to him, Ukraine wants peace and there will be negotiations in any case. However, it is a just and lasting peace, and Ukraine needs to be strong at the negotiating table.

Zelenskyy also emphasized that we must sign an agreement on minerals – Ukraine is ready for this. "This will be the first step towards security guarantees," he said. In his opinion, the United States is interested in this agreement, when it will be signed depends on the American side. But we want to understand what the next steps will be after it is signed.

Speaking about security guarantees, Zelenskyy emphasized that the fastest way is NATO. "If not NATO, well, no one is pressuring, then let's build NATO in Ukraine. Europe is ready. Look at Europe, it is strong, it is getting stronger. But it wants to have an ally like the United States," he noted.

The Head of State commented on Trump's calls for an immediate ceasefire. "I respect our soldiers and civilians. I can't just say 'stop'... No one will stop because everyone is afraid that Putin will return tomorrow," the president replied.

Zelenskyy responded to Senator Lindsey Graham's call for him to resign after a dispute with Trump. "This decision can only be made by the people of Ukraine," the head of state emphasized.

He also answered the question whether he would like to apologize to Trump. "I do not think we have done anything wrong. With all due respect to democracy and the media, I think we need to understand Ukraine's position," the Ukrainian president said.

Zelenskyy answered the question whether he believes that Trump is too close to Putin. "Trump said today that he is in the middle. But I would like him to be on our side," he said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on February 28, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid an official visit to the United States. At the White House, he met with President Donald Trump, and earlier he spoke with U.S. senators.

Zelenskyy got into a public quarrel with US Vice President J.D. Vance, in which Donald Trump intervened. This happened during a conversation between the leaders of Ukraine and the United States and journalists in the lobby of the West Wing of the White House.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also spoke about security guarantees for Ukraine. He emphasized that our country would not agree to a ceasefire without guarantees. In addition, the head of state clearly outlined who should be present at the negotiations to end the war. This is Russia's war against Ukraine, not a war between the United States and Russia, Zelenskyy emphasized.

After that, Volodymyr Zelenskyy left the White House early. The signing of the minerals agreement, as previously announced, did not take place.
