"Wants to see people stop dying": Trump details conversation with Putin on Ukraine war, justifies the dictator

US President Donald Trump has said that he has spoken to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on the phone several times to try to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine. He believes that Putin "does cares" about the victims and "wants to see people stop dying."

The American leader believes that the alleged international war criminal "does cares" about the killing on the battlefield. He said this in an interview with The New York Post on board Air Force One on Friday, February 7.

"I’d better not say," Trump said when asked how many times he had spoken to Putin, "He wants to see people stop dying. All those dead people. Young, young, beautiful people. They’re like your kids, two million of them – and for no reason."

Having officially become the leader of the United States for the second time less than a month ago, Trump now continues to believe that the three-year war "never would have happened" if he had been president in 2022. Here, the Republican once again accused and insulted his predecessor Joe Biden.

"I always had a good relationship with Putin... Biden was an embarrassment to our nation. A complete embarrassment," he said.

According to him, he allegedly has a specific plan to end the "damn thing" [war - ed.] in Ukraine.

Addressing his National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, the US President asked for meetings between the Ukrainian and Russian sides to begin as soon as possible.

"They want to meet. Every day people are dying. Young handsome soldiers are being killed. Young men, like my sons. On both sides. All over the battlefield," Trump added.

The Post writes that next week, US Vice President JD Vance will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Munich Security Conference (February 14-16), although there was information that Trump himself was seeking a meeting with him. The American leader said he wanted to conclude a $500 million deal with his Ukrainian counterpart to get access to rare earth minerals and gas in Ukraine "in exchange for security guarantees in any potential peace settlement." Zelenskyy called this demand "fair."
