Waltz: Ukraine should agree to territorial concessions in exchange for security guarantees

National Security Advisor to the President of the United States Mike Waltz has once again voiced a "condition" for Ukraine to end the war with Russia. According to him, Kyiv must "agree to territorial concessions" to receive security guarantees in return.

At the same time, the security guarantees should be "under the leadership of Europe," the politician said on CNN on Sunday, March 2. Waltz did not specify what commitments the United States could make.

At the same time, he noted that the aggressor country, Russia, should agree to the deployment of European peacekeepers in Ukraine.

"I want to say that this war has to end, and this requires territorial concessions. This will require concessions from Russia on security guarantees. This requires all parties to sit down at the negotiating table. And we are working very hard to advance these negotiations," said the Donald Trump adviser.

The American official also did not specify what kind of territorial concessions he was talking about.

"We can't get specifics from the Ukrainians, but it will be some kind of territorial concession in exchange for further security guarantees," he said.

According to Waltz, this was discussed during previous rounds of negotiations.

"These should be European-led security guarantees, a partial contribution of Europe to its own security," Waltz said.

It should be noted that the day before, Mike Waltz again criticized President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's style of dress at a meeting with Trump at the White House. He said that he was "not dressed to deal with peace."

The official said that he did not understand whether Zelenskyy really wanted to stop the fighting because he was "not dressed to deal with such issues."
