"The question is not about Plan B": Zelensky speaks on the prospects of Ukraine's accession to the EU

Getting a positive decision to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union depends entirely on the firmness of the member states. If this decision is postponed, it may indicate that it was vetoed by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to Norway. He also emphasized that Ukraine had been constructive and had fulfilled all the recommendations of its partners.

Zelensky also acknowledged that there is a blockage of the decision on Ukraine's accession to the EU by Hungary.

"Ukraine has done everything to not give any chance to this or that state to block the start of negotiations. The only question here is the resilience of the EU countries, because this year the Russian Federation did not have a single victory, they could not do anything, they could not occupy a single village, not to mention cities. They could not do anything," Zelensky said.

Meanwhile, according to the head of state, Russia has begun active work with countries not only in Europe but also in different countries on different continents, trying to influence them.

"Therefore, if there is no positive result, the question is not about plan B, we have only one plan - it is our choice to be in the EU. Therefore, if there is no positive outcome, it will mean that Putin vetoed this decision," the president concluded.

It should be noted that the European Union summit is scheduled for December 14-15, where the leaders of the countries are to discuss the prospects for the integration of Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia. At the same time, Hungary may become an obstacle to any initiatives aimed at supporting Ukraine, which could delay the summit.

Earlier it was reported that Hungary would not enter into negotiations with Ukraine on joining the European Union, according to Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto. He said that this was a separate issue that "was raised by itself".

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Hungarian government actively opposes Ukraine's membership in the EU. Earlier, Kuleba said that "there is an absolute majority in the European Union that supports the opening of negotiations" with Kyiv.
