US Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien arrived in Kyiv. He confirmed that the support of Ukraine by its partners is unwavering.

The visit of Assistant Secretary O'Brien took place on Monday, December 18. This was reported by the United States Ambassador Bridget Brink.

"I welcome Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien back in Kyiv! Your visit once again confirms that our support for Ukraine is unwavering," she said.

The day before, Brink called on Congress to provide an additional aid package to Ukraine as soon as possible. She emphasized that the new aid would allow Ukraine's troops to continue fighting Russian aggression.

In November, James O'Brien stated that stopping helping Ukraine fight a full-scale Russian invasion would be the worst decision for Washington. He also expressed confidence that Ukrainian soldiers would liberate all the cities captured by Russia.

As reported, the US Senate doubted that the Congress would be able to approve additional aid to Ukraine before Christmas. It will be "almost impossible" even if an agreement is reached between Democrats and Republicans in the coming days.
