President of the European Council Antonio Costa has emphasized that Ukraine has the right to determine when the conditions for starting peace talks are right. He emphasized that this war is not only about Ukraine but also about European security.

He said this at a meeting of Volodymyr Zelenskyy and high-ranking foreign guests with media representatives. Costa noted that Europe welcomes the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump to put pressure on Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin and Russia to start negotiations.

"I hope that these bilateral talks will open the door for real peace talks. But only Ukraine can decide when the conditions are right for this," the President of the European Council emphasized.

The President of the European Council noted that Europe must be involved in the upcoming negotiations and take an active part in the process. It is not only about the EU countries but also about other countries, such as Norway, the United Kingdom, and Iceland, which supported Ukraine and are also concerned about European security.

"I believe that if we have a common representative who would represent not only the EU but also other European countries, our common European position, we will discuss this during the next European Council meeting scheduled for March 6. Today I invited the leaders of the countries to participate, this special meeting will be dedicated to discussing how we can improve our capabilities, how we can strengthen Ukrainian capabilities, and how we can prepare," Costa said.

As a reminder, President of the European Council Antonio Costa announced a special meeting of the European Council on March 6. The main topics of the meeting will be further support for Ukraine and strengthening Europe's defense capabilities.

On Monday, February 24, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke at the Support Ukraine Summit. He emphasized that Ukraine must win peace through strength and unity.

Canada continues to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. On the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a new package of military and financial assistance.
