"Peace through strength": Zelenskyy says Ukraine will not accept Russia's demands to reduce army
The aggressor country wants to reduce the Ukrainian army. However, our country will never agree to such demands.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his media statements following a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. In addition, he emphasized that peace must be through strength. This is the only way Ukraine can defend its independence and protect its people.
"Our Victory Plan described all this in detail. And these are not loud words. There is a strong Ukraine. It can defend its independence and protect its people. It has all this. In particular, a package of weapons to strengthen us on the battlefield, taking into account our army, without reducing it by several times, as the enemy wants," Zelenskyy said, answering a question about the possibility of strengthening Ukraine to achieve peace.
The president also emphasized that in any diplomacy, defense is the number one issue for Ukraine. And it involves maintaining the size of the army that exists today.
Earlier it became known that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a historic agreement on a 100-year partnership. The document regulates cooperation between the two countries in the defense sector.
As a reminder, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Ukraine on January 16 with a promise to help secure the country for a century.
