Maia Sandu arrives in Kyiv on Zelenskyy's birthday: what are the key issues to be discussed. Video
Moldovan President Maia Sandu arrived in Kyiv on Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy's birthday, January 25. According to her, she came to Ukraine at the invitation of the president.
In the morning, the Moldovan leader posted a video from the train on Facebook. By her visit, she demonstrates her solidarity with Ukraine.
"For almost three years now, Ukrainians have been defending their country, their families, and the future of their children. The courage of Ukrainians is what ensures the safety of the Republic of Moldova too, for which we are very grateful," Sandu emphasized.
She said that during her visit to Kyiv, she will hold meetings with Zelenskyy and other officials to discuss security, energy, trade, infrastructure, including roads and bridges, as well as cooperation in the context of EU accession.
To recap, on January 14, Sandu said that the energy crisis in Transnistria was provoked not by Moldova but by Russia. As of today, Chisinau does not interfere with the supply of Russian gas to the "Left Bank." This came against the backdrop of Russia accusing the Chisinau authorities of "deliberately ignoring the problems in its relations with Gazprom," which is allegedly the main cause of the crisis in the Transnistrian region.
As reported, on January 2, it became known that Moldova switched to using the euro as the base currency for setting the official exchange rate of the Moldovan leu. Thus, the Moldovan currency was decoupled from the US dollar.
