Ukraine's diplomats are currently working on organizing a visit by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to Kyiv. The foreign ministers of Hungary and Ukraine are scheduled to meet on this issue on Monday, January 29.

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanyshyna told Reuters. This may be the first visit since the Russian invasion by a person considered a supporter of Russia among all NATO leaders.

The work of the foreign ministers of both countries was confirmed by an aide to Stefanyshyna. And the head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Andrii Yermak, clarified that a visit by Orban himself could be discussed.

Hungary and Ukraine

In December last year, it was Hungary that did not allow the European Union to provide Ukraine with €50 billion in aid for 4 years. In addition, the country's authorities are blocking the allocation of the last, 500 millionth tranche from the European Peace Fund to Ukraine.

However, regarding the 50 billion euro aid package, Hungary has already stated that it will agree to unblock its provision to Ukraine but only on condition of annual review of funding.
