How many Ukrainians trust Zelensky: poll results published
As of the first half of February 2025, 57% of Ukrainians trust President Volodymyr Zelensky. At the same time, only 37% of respondents express distrust in him.
The balance of trust and distrust is +20%. This is evidenced by the results of a sociological survey conducted by KIIS.
"As of the first half of February 2025, 57% of Ukrainians trust President Zelensky, while 37% do not. The balance of trust and distrust is +20%," the report says.
Compared to December 2024, trust in the president has increased. Then the figures were slightly lower: 52% trusted, 39% did not, and the balance was +13%.
According to sociologist Anton Hrushetsky, these results show that the president has high public support, which is a good indicator for a democratic country.
"President Zelenskyy retains a fairly high level of public trust (in fact, for a democratic society, having a current trust score is a very good result!) and even more so, he retains legitimacy," he said.
He added that Ukrainians believe that the government has every right to conduct difficult negotiations, and that elections should be held after the war and security guarantees are in place.
"If some international allied partners are concerned about the legitimacy of the President in the context of possible peace negotiations and consider it appropriate to insist on elections, then from the point of view of Ukrainian citizens themselves, there are no problems with this, the current President and the government are fully legitimate to conduct difficult negotiations, and elections should be held after the war is over and Ukraine has at least received reliable security guarantees," the sociologist emphasized.
The survey was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) from February 4 to 9, 2025. A total of 1000 respondents from all regions of Ukraine (except for the temporarily occupied territories and Ukrainians who have moved abroad) were interviewed by telephone.
The statistical error is no more than 4.1% for indicators close to 50% and decreases for lower values.
As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated the need, in his opinion, for elections in Ukraine. This time, he referred to the allegedly low rating of the President of Ukraine, a Ukrainian leader whom he personally "likes."
"We have a situation where there have been no elections in Ukraine for a long time, where martial law is actually in effect, where the leader, I hate to say it, has a 4% approval rating," Trump said.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to Donald Trump's statement about the alleged 4% of Ukrainians' trust in him. He emphasized that such figures are part of the Russian disinformation campaign.
As OBOZ.UA reported, Donald Trump has once again made a controversial statement about the war in Ukraine. He said that "Russia could quickly destroy Ukraine if it really wanted to."
