"He played Biden like a fiddle": Trump accused Zeenskyy of pulling $350 billion out of the U.S. for the war effort
US President Donald Trump has made another high-profile statement about Ukraine, accusing Volodymyr Zelenskyy of "swindling" the United States out of $350 billion for the war. He said that the Ukrainian leader "played like a fiddle" on former President Joe Biden.
He wrote about this on his social network Truth Social. Trump said that Zelenskyy, who "was once a humble comedian," convinced Washington to invest huge amounts of money in military aid, while the United States, in his opinion, would get nothing in return.
"Imagine, a humble successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, persuaded the United States of America to spend $350 billion on a war that cannot be won, that should never have started, but that he, without the United States and 'Trump', will never be able to end," the American president wrote.
Trump also criticized European allies for contributing significantly less to help Ukraine than the United States and said that Europe's money is "guaranteed to be returned," while the United States may be left with nothing.
"The United States has spent $200 billion more than Europe, and Europe's money is guaranteed, while the United States will get nothing back. Why didn't Sleepy Joe Biden demand equalization," he said.
Trump also said that the war is much more important for Europe than for the United States, because "we have a big, beautiful ocean that separates us."
In addition, according to Trump, Zelenskyy admits that half of the money provided by the United States has allegedly "missed."
He also called the Ukrainian president a "dictator without elections" and urged him to act quickly, "otherwise he will have no country left."
"He refuses to hold elections, has a very low rating in Ukrainian polls, and the only thing he is good at is playing (former US President Joe – ed.) Biden 'like a fiddle'. A dictator without elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he won't have a country left," Trump wrote.
The day before, Trump made several statements that shed light on his real perception of the Russian-Ukrainian war. While talking to journalists, he shifted the responsibility for the Russian invasion from the aggressor to the victim, saying that Zelenskyy should not have started the war, and Russia wants to stop it.
Trump could not resist curtsying to the Kremlin either. He claimed that the Russians were only attacking at 20% strength and that Russia could have destroyed Ukraine quickly if it wanted to.
At the same time, Trump criticized Europe and Ukraine for allegedly dragging out the war with Russia.
