"Empty checks for a distant war": White House spokeswoman accuses Zelenskyy of "provocation" and says the US wants only peace
The administration of US President Donald Trump will no longer provide Ukraine with "blank checks for a distant war" because it wants peace. And Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly "provoked" U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance during talks in Washington on February 28.
These statements were made by White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt. On the pro-Republican Fox News, she actively defended official Washington and accused Kyiv.
She said that the "rude" Zelenskyy needs to change his "attitude," otherwise "he may not be able to make a deal at all."
Leavitt emphasized several times that the United States is no longer led by Democrat Joe Biden (clearly hinting that the attitude toward Ukraine will be different).
"Trump was delighted with this economic agreement. And Zelenskyy, if you look at the recordings, actually provoked the vice president in front of the cameras. And, as Trump said, it's good that the cameras were working - the Americans and the whole world saw what Trump and his team are dealing with behind the scenes in negotiations with the Ukrainians," the White House spokeswoman said.
She accused the Ukrainians of being "very stubborn," while Trump "only wants peace."
Leavitt said that usually, after reaching a peace agreement, both sides remain a little dissatisfied with the deal. Like, "President Zelenskiy doesn't understand this," she accused the Ukrainian side.
As OBOZ.UA previously wrote, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that he was now waiting for an apology from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after the quarrel in the White House.
