China says the world supports its "peace plan" for Ukraine: Foreign Ministry reacts

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry comments on China's statements on "peace plan"

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that more than 20 countries have supported Beijing's vision for resolving the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to him, 26 countries have agreed to join (or are looking for ways to do so) the "joint agreements" reached by China and Brazil.

A total of 45 countries have given a "positive response" to these ideas, the diplomat said. Bloomberg reports.

The minister told reporters on Tuesday, June 4, that Russia and Ukraine had separately "confirmed most of the content" of the principles of a political solution, which were set out by China and Brazil in a joint statement last month.

At the same time, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi did not mention Ukraine's main demand that Russia withdraw its troops from the territory of our country, in particular, from the territories annexed in 2014. Only then can Kyiv begin any negotiations with the aggressor.

"The document calls for an international conference recognized by both Russia and Ukraine as an alternative to Kyiv's peace plan, which is supported by Western countries and is to be discussed at a meeting in Switzerland this month. Russia was not invited," the article says.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to these statements by Wang Yi. It noted that all countries that sincerely seek to restore peace should work together to successfully hold the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland.

The ministry added that the participation of a high-ranking Chinese representative in the summit could be a good opportunity for Beijing to make a practical contribution to achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

"Against the backdrop of four summits between China and the aggressor state Russia at the level of leaders since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, this would be an important signal of China's balanced position," the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summarized that it is Ukraine, on whose territory the war is taking place, that should determine what peace should be like. The only fair basis for achieving such peace is the Peace Formula of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- China has announced that it will not participate in the Global Peace Summit to be held in Switzerland this summer. They claimed that the event allegedly does not meet Beijing's requirements that a representative of the aggressor country Russia should participate.

- Soon after, China responded to President Zelensky's accusations of attempts to disrupt the Peace Summit. Beijing said that China has never "fanned or stoked the flames" of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
