"You know": Russian Beterbiev has made demands on Usyk

Beterbiev wants to fight Usyk

Absolute world light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs) is ready to fight Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs), but the Ukrainian must fulfill an important condition. The Russian, who is shamefully hiding under the Canadian flag, will not go up to the heavyweight division, but demands that our compatriot go down a division.

This was stated by Beterbiev's coach Nuripasha Talibov, according to the propaganda portal Championship.com. The specialist added that for his ward to fight Usyk, who would weigh more than 100 kilograms, is a utopia, but in the heavyweight division the fight will allegedly be incredibly interesting and competitive.

"If Usyk weighs as much as he does, it will certainly be difficult for Arthur. The difference is too big. But if at least 91 kg... It would be a top fight, you know, two very good fighters," Talibov said.

Previously, Beterbiev himself has repeatedly expressed his desire to fight Usik, but the last time he called this possibility almost impossible. The boxers have met several times at the amateur level. In 2007, at a tournament in Kaliningrad, the Russian won 12:10, and the Ukrainian took revenge in the quarterfinals of the 2011 World Cup and the 2012 Olympics with the same score of 17:13.

Because of these defeats, Beterbiev harbored a grudge against Usyk and accused him of cowardice. And after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he called Oleksandr sick because of his stance against the aggressors. The Russian also complained that many fans and experts accused him of being jealous of the Ukrainian super champion.

It should be noted that Usyk himself did not express a desire to fight Beterbiev, but has already recognized his next opponent after defeating Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) in a rematch.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Russian propaganda portal Sovetsky Sport hysterically accused Oleksandr Usyk of "siding with the terrorists." After the rematch with Fury, our compatriot reminded the Russians of the will of the Ukrainian people by raising the saber of Hetman Ivan Mazepa above his head. The details of this performance were later revealed.
