Testing makeup in stores before buying it sounds quite commonplace, but the results of a new experiment will make you think twice before applying products to your skin. The famous TikTok user, who checks various public places for the presence of harmful bacteria, this time visited the famous Sephora chain.

He took samples of lipsticks, blushes, eye shadows, concealers, multisticks, and mascaras. The result, which the researcher shared in his video, was shocking.

To his surprise, some products passed the experiment. However, others showed growth of bacteria that can cause staph and urinary tract infections, respiratory illnesses, and pneumonia.

He experimented with cosmetics testers at the request of another user. The man took swabs from several products of each type of cosmetics, which he then placed in Petri dishes and incubated for several days.

Samples of lipstick, concealer, and mascara came out completely clean, but another group of products was teeming with bacteria.

The infected dishes had hundreds of germs hiding in the products.

Experts and professional makeup artists have long urged the public to stay away from testers, especially after a California woman sued Sephora in 2015, claiming she developed ulcers after using a lipstick tester. However, the latest experiment did not reveal any bacteria hiding on lipstick testers in the cosmetics chain.
