Where were their stylists looking? Top 5 worst outfits of the royals. Photo
Couturiers create outfits for members of the royal family for important events. Everything about their masterpieces is perfect: the cut, color palette, and design solutions. However, the titled persons choose things for small-scale events or everyday looks themselves. Unfortunately, they are not always successful.
Sometimes kings and queens, princes and princesses wear extravagant outfits (if only their personal stylists would correct their mistakes). Read more about fashion failures in the OBOZ.UA article.
1. Sarah Ferguson
In 1988, Sarah, Duchess of York, attended a fashion show at The Music Center in Los Angeles. For this event, she chose a dress by designer Lindka Cierach. This outfit can hardly be called successful as it looks like a mixture of the style of singer Carmen Miranda and a flamenco dancer. If Lady Ferguson just wanted to stand out from the crowd, she succeeded.
2. Maxima (Queen of the Netherlands)
In 2005, Crown Princess Maxima (the current Queen of the Netherlands) and her husband Crown Prince Willem-Alexander (now King of the Netherlands) attended a ceremony at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. She wore a maxi dress with a quirky design inspired by the Amazon rainforest.
3. Charlotte Casiraghi
Monegasque journalist and businesswoman, eleventh in line to the throne of Monaco, Charlotte Casiraghi was one of the guests at the Vogue Foundation gala in 2016. For her public appearance, she chose a black and gold Gucci mini-dress made of several layers of fabric and golden decor, as well as a massive gold necklace resembling chainmail. She complemented the outfit with a crossbody bag and lace-up sandals.
4. Princess Beatrice
She is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II. Before her marriage to businessman Edoardo-Mapelli Mozzi in 2020, Princess Beatrice of York did not dress very stylishly and often made fashion mistakes in her looks. One of her unsuccessful outings was in 2008 at the wedding of the grandson of Princess Anne's son, Peter Phillips, to Autumn Kelly. Beatrice then wore an extravagant dress with a butterfly wing print, a white jacket, and a hat with butterflies. She overdid it.
5. Princess Diana
Diana, Princess of Wales, usually appears in articles as a style icon. Despite having such an unofficial title, she did not always have sophisticated looks. She also had some fashion mistakes. For example, in 1981, while visiting Royal Ascot, Lady Di wore a red suit by Bellville Sassoon and a red hat with a white flower by John Boyd. This look was more comical than elegant.
