Fall is in full swing, and some locations are already preparing to welcome skiers and snowboarders. It won't be long before you can start conquering the slopes. Today, we're going to tell you which resorts will open very soon.

Austria

The ski season begins in late October and lasts until April. Sölden is one of the most famous winter entertainment centers. It is located in the federal state of Tyrol, in the Ötztal Valley. Its slopes stretch for more than 140 kilometers. Here, tourists can climb three peaks about 3,000 meters above sea level.

The attraction is famous for its après-ski culture - fun after a busy day. There are bars with live music, cinemas, restaurants, and discos. And daredevils can go night-ski-snow, or night skiing.

Interesting fact: the World Cup in skiing is held here every year.

Another resort is Kitzbühel. The most popular area for skiers is Hahnenkamm. You can get there by gondola lift. Beginners are advised to choose the path near the town of Kitzbüheler Horn. For experienced skiers, Steibergkogel is perfect.

Be sure to visit the Kitzbühel Museum. Here travelers will see exhibits of various equipment. Some items are over 100 years old. Also visit the Bauernhausmuseum Hinterobernau estate. Here you can get to know the life of the locals.

France

The season starts in early November and ends in April. The Three Valleys is the largest ski area in the world. Its routes stretch over 600 kilometers. By the way, there are special trails for freeriding.

Courchevel is located at an altitude of about 2300 meters above sea level. Snow cover in the area lasts until late spring. Be sure to take part in a slope safari, during which you can admire the incredible scenery of the Alps.

La Rosière is located in the picturesque Savoy region. Its special feature is a panoramic view of the Tarentaise Valley. The resort borders on the Italian La Thuile. They also share a common ski lift network.

And in Alpe d'Huez you will find the longest downhill run in Europe. It will take about 1.5 hours to conquer it.

Switzerland

The ski season begins in early December and lasts until the end of April. Zermatt is the most popular winter entertainment center. It is located at the foot of the iconic Matterhorn mountain.

By the way, there is a ban on the entry of cars. Therefore, the location is considered an example of an environmentally friendly zone. People are allowed to travel by electric cars or horse-drawn sleighs. The attraction is also a member of the world-famous organization The Best of the Alps.

An interesting fact: the highest lift in Europe, the Matterhorn Glacier Ride, is located here. It takes tourists to an altitude of 3883 meters above sea level. Travelers can choose luxury gondolas. There are only 4 of them. During the ride, the floor becomes transparent.

We recommend visiting the Matterhorn Museum - Zermatlantis. In the museum, you can visit the cinema hall, where a video flight over the Alps is broadcast. It also houses equipment and gear that climbers have used during hikes over the years.

Germany

The season usually starts in December and lasts until the end of March. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is located near the Zugspitze mountain, the highest peak in Germany. Difficult and medium difficulty routes prevail here. There is also a ski school here.

Oberstdorf is characterized by cross-country skiing trails and ski jumps. There is also a modern figure skating center. The area is equipped with areas for snowboarding, hiking, paragliding, and sledding. There is also a skating rink and a climbing wall.

We recommend going to the Heimatmuseum Oberstdorf. It houses the largest shoe in the world. It is 3.5 meters long and 1.20 meters wide. To create it, 18 cattle skins and a mountain rope were used.

Sweden

The ski season starts in mid-November and lasts until April. Ore is the largest resort in Scandinavia. It consists of four settlements: Duved, Tegefjall, Are By and Are Bjornen. Each of them has ski lifts and trails.

Here we recommend visiting Åre Old Church. The shrine was built in the late tenth century. Also, go to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country - Ristafallet. And the largest - Tannforsen.

There are more than 100 hiking trails in Selenia. The center is famous for its large number of snowboarding areas. Here, travelers can engage in various types of entertainment. In particular, ice climbing, dog sledding and snowmobiling, ice skating and ice karting.
