Charlotte is a traditional French pie that even a child can make. It takes just a few minutes to prepare and a little time to bake. Thus, you will have a great addition to your coffee or tea.

However, sometimes you want to diversify the usual dessert and add new flavors to it. A food blogger with the nickname o gorodnik showed how best to do this on Instagram. The new vision of this dish will not leave anyone indifferent.

Ingredients for the charlotte

  • peeled sour apples - 600 g
  • lemon juice - ½ pc
  • ground cinnamon - 3 g
  • room temperature eggs - 6 pcs
  • sugar - 200 g
  • flour - 200 g
  • corn starch - 20 g
  • vanilla sugar - 20 g
  • baking powder - 10 g
  • butter - 30 g
  • brown sugar - 20 g
  • pecans - 50 g

Ingredients for the sauce

  • Milk - 300 ml
  • Cream 30% - 300 ml
  • Chicken egg yolks - 3 pcs
  • Sugar - 100 gr
  • Vanilla sugar - 15 gr
  • Corn starch - 10 g

Method of cooking charlotte

1. Peel the apples and immerse them in cold water with lemon juice.

2. Beat eggs and sugar with a mixer for 5-7 minutes until fluffy.

3. Grease the mold with butter and sprinkle with brown sugar.

4. Dice the apples.

5. Mix the dry ingredients, sift through a sieve and add in 2 stages to the beaten eggs and sugar and mix gently until all the ingredients are completely combined.

6. Put half of the apples in the mold, sprinkle them with ground cinnamon, cover with half of the batter, then another layer of apples with cinnamon and then the rest of the batter. Top with nuts.

7. Bake at 180 degrees for 40-45 minutes.

How to prepare the sauce

1. Combine milk and cream in a saucepan and bring to a boil.

2. Beat the egg yolks with sugar, starch and vanilla sugar in a bowl with a whisk.

3. Pour the hot milk mixture into the yolks, strain it back into the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.

4. Boil the sauce for 15 seconds after boiling and serve hot or cool before serving.

5. If the sauce has hardened too much, beat it lightly with a fork or mixer or add a little milk.
