The native of Moscow used to play for Russia and Belarus
Ivan Desyatov, a 23-year-old figure skater, was suspended a day before his performance at the largest Skate America competition. According to Sport-Express, the reason for the suspension was sexual contact with an underage girl. According to sources, she was under 16 at the time of the incident.
Desyatov previously represented Russia and Belarus, and since 2023 has been competing for the United States in ice dancing.
His career began in Russia, where he competed with partners Anna Bogomolova and Irina Khavronina. Later, he moved to Belarus to continue his career, and in 2023, he decided to represent the United States, where his partner was Isabella Flores. The pair took third place at the CS Golden Spin of Zagreb tournament in 2023.
On October 19, he was temporarily suspended from competition by the American Center for Safe Sport due to allegations of improper behavior. Because of this, the pair missed participation in the Grand Prix stages. Prior to that, Desyatov and Flores showed good results, including in the US Championships, where they took 7th place in 2024.
Desyatov and Flores got married in August 2022, just 2 months after the Moscow native arrived in America. Flores' parents have been instrumental in supporting his career by helping with training and ice expenses in the United States.
The allegations surrounding his suspension have affected his future career, and Desyatov's future in sports remains in doubt.
