A Mexican artist created the "most realistic image" of the Virgin Mary as a teenager. He used artificial intelligence in the process.

The expert reconstructed the face of the Virgin of Guadalupe, which appeared on a cloth worn by St. Juan in Mexico more than 700 years ago. The latest technology spent weeks analyzing the image of Mary, studying each component to "capture gestures and expressions dynamically," writes DailyMail.

Artist Miguel Angel Omana Rojas analyzed the structure and expression of the Virgin Mary's face, as well as her skin tone. The expert then used artificial intelligence models that had previously been trained to learn large datasets of human faces and bodies to recreate realistic photos, TheSun said.

The Virgin of Guadalupe, also known as Our Lady of Guadalupe, is a Catholic title given to Mary, the mother of Jesus, which was associated with her mysterious supernatural appearance to a Mexican peasant named Juan Diego.

Catholics believe that Mary left a miraculous image of her apparition on his cloak of cactus fiber, which can still be seen today in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. The image of Mother Mary on the cloak is depicted with golden rays of light symbolizing the sun.

At the final stage of work on the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, AI added realistic textures to the skin and hair of the Mother of Jesus, which seemed to bring her to life.

"This is the most accurate approximation that artificial intelligence has been able to make," Omania Rojas emphasized.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that the neural network studied the Shroud of Turin and showed the "real" face of Jesus.
