What eyeshadow shades are forbidden in adulthood: expert advice
Using eye shadow is one of the best ways to emphasize your eyes and quickly create a spectacular makeup look with just a couple of products. But, like any other cosmetics, they should be used according to your skin condition, eye shape, and complexion.
SheFinds turned to Kerryn Jackson, a makeup artist who works in movies, and professional makeup artist Oscar Velasquez to find out which shadows are best avoided by women over 40. At this age, the sagging of the upper eyelid begins to be noticeable and some colors and shades can strongly emphasize it. In addition, experts have named two types of eyeshadow that will work very well on mature skin.
Colors to avoid
Metallic red
The red color itself can not only add to your age, but also make your eyes look very tired, creating an overall unhealthy look. Therefore, at any age, you need to choose red eyeshadow with great care. If you add the metallic effect to this range, it will emphasize the skin texture even more and add extra years to your face. It should be avoided in makeup altogether if you don't want to highlight wrinkles.
Bright raspberry color
Similarly, a bright crimson shade does not always suit mature skin. It is difficult to apply this shade correctly, because it appears on the face when we suffer from an allergic reaction or other eye inflammation. Using crimson eyeshadow can also give the impression that you have just cried for a long time and hard. And this cannot be called very attractive.
Transparent shine
Sheer eyeshadows with shimmer are also not the best option, as they can emphasize fine lines and wrinkles. Small reflective elements in such products only increase the visibility of skin texture, which we usually try to smooth out with makeup.
Shadows that are best suited for mature skin
Satin eyeshadow
Eyeshadows with a satin finish stand out with a subtle, elegant hint of radiance. At the same time, unlike matte eyeshadows, which lie down rather flat, they create a certain volume. Moreover, these shadows are not too bright or shimmery. They help create a smooth makeup look and a visual effect of moisturized skin.
Neutral matte eyeshadow
But you shouldn't give up on matte eyeshadows entirely. The neutral shades of such products hide the natural texture and blend well. Especially if you choose a creamy formula instead of a less plastic powder one.
