What are the main differences between electric cars and conventional cars: comparison

Some drivers are hesitant to buy an electric car without knowing what its key advantages are

Almost every time, the process of choosing a new car now begins with the question of whether to buy a gasoline car or switch to electric. Electric cars are still relatively rare on our roads, and there are not many drivers who can share their experience of using them.

The CNet publication talked about the key differences. And it dispelled the main doubts about electric cars. However, it also named some of the accompanying disadvantages.

Refueling

Refueling an electric car is no more difficult than charging a smartphone. You simply plug it into an outlet and wait for the battery to fill up with energy. This way, you can come home in the evening, plug the charger into the appropriate socket, and have a car that's ready to go in the morning. You don't have to go to a special place like a gas station for a gasoline car.

This is usually more than enough to get around the city because modern electric vehicles have a good range, which is enough even for those who live outside the city. But a longer trip in such a car will have to be planned more carefully. This is especially true in Ukraine, where electric car charging stations are not yet very common. This can also be a problem for people who live in apartment buildings rather than mansions. In this case, you often have to drag several extension cords from your apartment to plug your car into an outlet.

Noiselessness

Unlike an internal combustion engine, an electric one pleases with its almost silent operation. Drivers of electric cars claim that this makes the experience of traveling, even in an inexpensive model, extremely pleasant. Electric motors often don't need complex transmissions, and they don't take time to gain revs to generate power. This has a good effect on handling and acceleration, especially in urban areas.

For pedestrians who are used to noisy gasoline cars, this is a problem. Sometimes they may not hear an electric car coming up behind them. This creates an additional danger. That's why some manufacturers have begun to install systems on their cars that mimic the sound of a conventional engine.

Interior space

One of the biggest advantages of electric vehicles that have been built from the ground up, rather than converted from older gasoline cars or hybrids, is that they often have more interior space. Without having to accommodate bulky components like the engine or transmission, designers can leave extra room for passengers and luggage. Or even provide additional storage space under the hood.
