Polish athlete conquered the internet

Polish high jumper Łukasz Mamczarz has become a social media sensation after his performance at the 2024 Paralympics. His jump in the final of the track and field event went viral online.

One of the spectators in the stands filmed the moment when Mamcharz threw away his crutches and, jumping on one leg, managed to reach a height of 1.77 meters.

Unfortunately, this result did not allow him to fight for a medal. As a result, the Pole was only seventh out of 8 competitors.

Within days, the video garnered 37 views on social network X (formerly Twitter). On Instagram, the 38-year-old track and field athlete admitted that he was shocked by the fame that has descended on him since Paris 2024.

Lukasz Mamczarz lost his left leg in a motorcycle accident in 2009. He took up sports on the recommendation of doctors during his rehabilitation and made decent progress.

At the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games in London, Lukasz won a bronze medal in the high jump in the T42 class (limb deficit).

More medals at the IPC Athletics World Championships followed. Mamcharz is also a two-time gold medalist at the European Championships, winning in Swansea (2014) and Grosseto (2016).
