Usyk vs Fury rematch: Tyson refused to fight and named his main goal
Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) sees no point in fighting other opponents before he fights Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) for the third time. The Gypsy King, as the Briton is called, said he believes in defeating the Ukrainian in a rematch and then wants to make another fight with our compatriot.
Fury expressed this opinion in an interview with Seconds Out. The 36-year-old Manchester native said he rejected promoter Frank Warren's idea to hold a fight against Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) or Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) after the rematch with the Ukrainian.
"The promoter told me that I would be back on top when I beat Usyk in the rematch. I said: 'Frank, no. When I beat Usyk – and I believe I will – we need a third fight. Because he won one, I won one, so we need a third fight to determine who is stronger. We need a decisive fight. That's the opportunity I'll be looking for. And only then am I ready to fight the winner of the Joshua – Dubois rematch," Fury said.
