Unknown men attack Israeli football fans with knives in Amsterdam, kidnapping some of them
Unknown men brutally attacked Israeli fans who had come to watch the match between local Ajax and Tel Aviv's Maccabi in Amsterdam, which ended in 5-0 victory. Three fans are still missing, and the IDF has already launched an operation to remove the Israelis from the Dutch capital.
According to The Times of Israel, immediately after the match at the Amsterdam ArenA, masked individuals brutally attacked Israeli fans, including with knives. Videos posted on social media show that some of the attackers carried Palestinian flags and shouted "free Palestine."
Then they broke into hotels where Israelis were staying.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that at least 10 Israeli citizens were injured in the attack. However, according to unconfirmed reports, the number of those injured is already about 30, and according to the Foreign Ministry, three more Israelis are missing.
For now, Israelis visiting Amsterdam were urged not to leave their hotels, and the country's new foreign minister, Gideon Saar, instructed diplomats stationed at neighboring European embassies to travel to the Netherlands and strengthen Israel's mission.
On Friday, November 8, the IDF launched an operation to evacuate Israelis after the violent overnight attacks. Cargo planes with medical teams under the direction of the Home Front Command are expected to land at Schiphol Airport in the near future.
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof has already condemned the attacks on football fans in Amsterdam in a post on X. He said he had informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that those responsible for these violent acts would be brought to justice.
Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders has already called for the deportation of Muslim rioters who attacked Israelis on the streets of Amsterdam.
"Looks like a Jew hunt in the streets of Amsterdam. Arrest and deport the multicultural scum that attacked Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters in our streets. Ashamed that this can happen in The Netherlands. Totally unacceptable," he said in a post on X.
