Ukrainian tennis player Liudmyla Kichenok has reached the US Open doubles final for the first time in her career. Our compatriot achieved this right in a duet with Jelena Ostapenko from Latvia, defeating rivals from Taiwan and the Russian Federation - Zhan Haoqing and Veronika Kudermetova.

The tennis players spent only 65 minutes on the court and completed the match in two games - 6:1, 6:2. During this time, Ostapenko and Kichenok won 23 active games and demonstrated a staggering 71% of breakpoints, taking five out of seven.

The Ukrainian and Latvian recorded one double and 13 unforced errors. Ostapenko and Kichenok outplayed their opponents in almost all indicators, losing only in the number of aces and double faults.

Now the duo from Latvia and Ukraine will compete for the main trophy and $750,000 in prize money with the sensational pair of Christina Mladenovic (France)/Zhang Shuai (China), who knocked out the third seeds in the semifinals.

Earlier, Ukraine's best tennis player Marta Kostiuk refused to participate in the doubles of the US Open-2024.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Kazakhstani tennis player Yulia Putintseva, who was born in Moscow and played under the Russian flag until 2012, was distinguished by shameful behavior during a US Open match.
