Ukrainian disqualified from 2024 Paralympics after giving medal to Colombian
Ukrainian swimmer Andriy Trusov has been disqualified from the final of the 2024 Paralympic Games. The 24-year-old native of Donetsk region was second in the 100m breaststroke in the SB6 class (athletes with impaired motor functions, amputated limbs or growth disorders).
However, after the race, Trusov's result was canceled and his silver medal was given to Colombian Nelson Crispin Corzo. Another Ukrainian, Yevhen Bohodayko, took third place. Chinese parasailor Yang Hong won the event.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, on September 1, the Ukrainian national team won its third gold medal of the 2024 Paralympics. Swimmer Mykhailo Serbin became the first in the 100-meter backstroke in the S11 class (visual impairment). The 20-year-old from Kharkiv swam the course in 1:05.84 minutes, improving his own world record of 2023 by 0.17 seconds.
