UEFA changes important rule ahead of Euro 2024 final

Eight players compete for the Golden Boot

The European Football Union (UEFA) has amended the rules for determining the top scorer of the 2024 UEFA European Championship ahead of the final. Now several players can receive the Golden Boot prize at once, not just one, as it was before.

This was reported by ESPN. At Euro 2016, Cristiano Ronaldo was named the top scorer, boating five goals, the same number as Czech Patrik Schick. However, the prize was given to the Portuguese, explaining that he made more assists.

UEFA has now abandoned this rule. The organization confirmed that all Euro 2024 players with the most goals will receive the Golden Boot. It is interesting that on the eve of the European Championship final between Spain and England, six players have six goals at once: England's Harry Kane, Spain's Dani Olmo, Georgia's Georges Mikautadze, the Netherlands' Cody Gakpo, Slovakia's Ivan Schranz, and Germany's Jamal Musiala.

At the same time, two participants in the upcoming final - the British Jude Bellingham and the representative of the "La furia española" Fabian Ruiz - scored two accurate shots each. Thus, under a certain set of circumstances, eight players will be able to receive the Golden Boot at once.
