The television series The Simpsons has repeatedly surprised viewers with strange coincidences. Some predictions shown on the screen unexpectedly became reality.

In the past, the show's creators have predicted Trump's victory in the US presidential election and even the coronavirus pandemic, Metro reports. This year is no exception - at least 5 predictions from The Simpsons have come true in real life.

The tragedy of the Titanic submarine

One of the most eerie predictions of the series concerned the journey of OceanGate's Titanic submersible to the wreck of the Titanic. In the summer of 2023, public attention was focused on a tragedy: an underwater vehicle with tourists traveling to the ruins of the famous ship disappeared without a trace. As it turned out later, the submersible exploded and all the passengers died.

An episode of the show dating back to 2006 shows Homer going on an underwater journey and being reunited with his lost father, named Mason. It also tells how the father and son try to find the sunken ship, but the control panel of the submersible shows low oxygen levels.

It is known that a father and son were among the five tourists on the Titanic.

Barbie mania

This year, Barbie mania has swept the world, but The Simpsons predicted this back in 1994. In one of the episodes, Lisa challenges the creators of the Malibu Stacy doll. She asks them to create a toy with a more feminist message - something that Greta Gerwig, the director of Barbie, certainly had in mind.

While the movie starring Margot Robbie shook up the world, The Simpsons had a similar impact on the media.

The arrest of Donald Trump

The Simpsons managed to predict a lot about the former US president, but in the same episode "Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy", his arrest was also shown.

The news anchor who was talking about the doll ended his program with the words: "Oh, and the president has been arrested." The story was about the president's arrest for murder, but in real life, former White House chief Donald Trump was accused of fraud during the 2020 election.

Elon Musk's Twitter rebranding

One of the strangest transformations of this year was the rebranding of Twitter, which turned into an "X".

In April, Elon Musk sent an email to Twitter's business partners announcing that the company had been renamed X Corp after the entrepreneur bought the platform last October for $44 billion.

Fans of The Simpsons remembered a 2012 episode where Homer had a very similar app on his phone - and it looked just like Musk's new logo.

"Radioactive" fish

One of the most bizarre predictions of The Simpsons that came true this year concerned Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who tasted "radioactive" fish.

The video depicted the politician eating seafood from the waters off the coast of Fukushima, near the nuclear power plant. This was done to dispel safety concerns about radioactive releases.

Fans of The Simpsons associate the Japanese man's actions with a 1990 episode in which Mr. Burns eats a three-eyed fish that has allegedly mutated due to pollution from a nuclear power plant. Although this is not exactly a prediction that came true, it is a rather strange coincidence.
