Trailer for John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial released: documentary reveals the killer's strange apology for the first time

Apple TV+ has released the first trailer of a new documentary about the famous British singer and former member of The Beatles John Lennon. The show "John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial" will consist of three parts and tell the story of the celebrity's murder, which took place in 1980.

The trailer is available for viewing on the official YouTube channel Apple TV+. The program will be available on the platform in a week - on December 6.

The documentary Murder Without a Trial is positioned as the "most thoroughly researched examination" of the murder of Liverpool musician Mark David Chapman. The show also features never-before-seen crime scene photos and exclusive eyewitness interviews "shedding new light on the life and murder of music icon John Lennon."

Among the interviewees were Lennon's friends, police officers who worked on the case, as well as Chapman's lawyers and prosecutors. In particular, Murder Without a Trial includes interviews with the thief's defense attorney, David Suggs, and Dr. Naomi Goldstein, the psychiatrist who first examined Chapman.

This data provides new insight into his state of mind during the 1980 assassination. The interviewees also included Richard Peterson, a taxi driver who witnessed the shooting; Jay Hastings, a doorman at Lennon's apartment building who heard his last words, and others.

One of the witnesses reportedly told the documentary what Chapman said after he fatally shot Lennon. "He actually apologized to us," the interviewee said, "He said: "Hey, I'm really sorry I ruined your night."
