"They were afraid": the anthem of Belarus was banned at the Russian Biathlon Championships and the athlete from Belarus was not awarded gold

The Czech Republic biathlon is caught in a scandal

The organizers of the Russian Open Biathlon Championships were afraid to play the Belarusian national anthem after the country's representative won the women's pursuit race. In addition, Anna Sola, who won the 10-kilometer race, was not awarded a well-deserved gold medal.

Famous journalist Dmitry Guberniev wrote about this on his Telegram channel. The Z-propagandist, who was one of the hosts of the March 2022 rally in Luzhniki, called the decision shameful, repeating traditional Kremlin narratives about so-called friendly countries.

"My colleagues are great, but all the organizers of the World Biathlon Championships, unfortunately, were afraid to play the anthem of a friendly country at the stadium... I personally asked everyone and Maigurov (head of the Russian Biathlon Union - ed.) too... But no... Regulations. I am personally ashamed and embarrassed... We are a great and strong country, Belarus is our friend and ally, but we do not award medals, we do not play the anthem... This situation must be changed!" Guberniev was outraged.

Earlier in February, the Russian Ministry of Sport banned Belarusian athletes from participating in biathlon races with a mass start at the so-called Spartakiad.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Russian biathletes complained about the terrible conditions of the Commonwealth Cup - the athletes faced unequipped bathrooms in the hotel, dust and repair debris left after the work.
