Kyiv in the photos of the 1900s

Archival photographs remain one of the few opportunities to learn about the history of Kyiv and see what life was like in the city. In particular, this can be done through photographs from the 1900s.

The old photos were published on the Telegram channel of the "Kyiv Living History" community. Unfortunately, most of the city's old buildings have not stood the test of time.

"The 1900s. This is how Kyiv was more than 100 years ago," the post reads.

The published photos show, among other things, what the first building of the Central Railway Station looked like, the city center, and moments in the lives of Kyiv residents.

In 1970, the water level in the Dnipro River in Kyiv was very low. As a result, large shoals could be seen between the islands located between the left and right banks of the city.

Kyiv has always attracted tourists for its architecture and large number of trees. In the fall, the city turned into an artist's palette, which was captured by a photographer's camera in the 1970s.
