"The Squid Game" series became a real sensation back in 2021, during the premiere of the first season. The continuation of the popular South Korean survival series has become a long-awaited event for many fans.

The second season of "Game of Thrones" broke a record on Netflix. According to Deadline, the series has garnered 126.2 million views in 11 days.

The second season continues the storyline of the first, revealing new secrets and intrigues. Participants will once again face dangerous games that will require not only physical strength but also intelligence and dexterity.

Currently, "The Squid Game 2" is the fourth most popular series on Netflix, behind only the first season, "Wednesday," and "Stranger Things 4."

But the speed with which it gained 126 million views is a record for the platform. The second season will likely be in first place in terms of views in some time.

Before the release of the sequel, the first season also began to gain popularity, ranking second among foreign-language series broadcasts with 13.6 million views per week. Usually, previous seasons return to the top 10 when new ones premiere, but they rarely take the second place.

The sequel tells the story of the winner of the previous competition, Song Gi-hoon (Lee Jong-che), who returns to the deadly arena to save the new contestants. The protagonist seeks to reach the organizers of the competition to stop the game forever.

Despite its immense popularity, the reviews for the second season are rather mixed. According to Rotten Tomatoes reviews, 63% of viewers liked the plot. The series is criticized mainly for the lack of a sufficient number of games, limiting the season to seven episodes, and the open ending.

Many critics compare the second season to the first and note that it is not as fresh and original.

The third season was filmed simultaneously with the second. It should be released on Netflix in the summer or fall of 2025.
