The governor of the Belgorod region of Russia, Vyacheslav Gladkov, has issued an appeal to the residents of this Russian region. He advised Russians to evacuate from the "shelling of peaceful neighborhoods" in the regional center.

Gladkov also boasted of active efforts to help the population. Since December 30, when Russia accused Ukraine of allegedly deliberately targeting Belgorod, local authorities have "already evacuated several families." The Russian official wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

In the post, Gladkov complained that "the situation in Belgorod remains difficult". Russians who were so happy to see Ukrainian cities and villages hit and Ukrainians killed, for some reason do not feel happy when the war came to their homes. They, Gladkov complains, "are very worried about their property, about their cars, about their own lives, about the lives of their loved ones."

However, the governor reassured Belgorod residents that they can put aside their fears and worries because the operational headquarters for the restoration of Belgorod has been set up. And its work has already yielded "results."

"I met with my deputies and the mayor of Belgorod. We discussed all the issues and saw that we need to intensify our work," Gladkov reported.

However, the governor admitted that the "temperature drop" is slowing down the frantic pace, but, according to Gladkov, since Russians expect more results from the government, officials will "meet these requirements."

From promises to do "more, better, stronger," Gladkov moved on to reports of other "achievements." It turns out that in addition to the meetings, the regional authorities also managed to start the evacuation, the scale of which is no less impressive.

"I see several appeals in social networks, where people write that they are scared and ask me to help them get to a safe place." Of course, we will help! We have already moved several families," the governor boasted.

He urged those wishing to leave to contact the mayor of Belgorod or the governor's office and report their readiness to evacuate. Gladkov promises to take those who wish to leave "today" to Stary Oskol and Gubkin, where "sufficiently comfortable conditions" have been created for them.

The governor cited the actions of the local authorities during the "events in the Shebekino district" as evidence of his allegedly tireless concern for Belgorod residents. However, such a reminder is unlikely to bring peace of mind to Russians who remember the raid by the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion last summer: while the Russian army was wiping the town off the map in an attempt to drive Russian volunteers out, the local population was left to fend for themselves. Those who tried to send at least their own children away from the shelling on buses provided by the regional authorities faced the fact that they would have to pay 3,000 rubles per person for the evacuation.

Shebekino residents have been complaining about the authorities' complete disregard for the restoration of their destroyed houses on social media for a long time.

As a reminder, on December 30, dozens of explosions occurred in the Russian city of Belgorod: The defense forces attacked enemy's military targets with a large number of drones, and Russian air defense, trying to repel the attack, created a kind of "hell" for the city's residents.

At first, Russian propagandists massively wrote that the air defense system "shot down all the targets," but when data on the destruction and deaths caused by Russian missiles began to appear, they immediately began to wipe these posts.

In the evening, the Russian Defense Ministry actually admitted that it was Russian air defense that killed the Russians. They said that Ukraine allegedly launched missiles "with cluster munitions," so the Russian occupiers decided that they should shoot them down over the city.

On the morning of December 31, the governor of the Belgorod region reported that the shelling had resulted in 24 casualties as of 8:30 a.m. Moscow time, including four children. A total of 108 Russians sustained injuries of varying severity, more than 20 of them in serious condition.
