The perfect vacation for introverts: where to go to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city
There are many places on Earth that are cut off from civilization. Some of them are as far away from the continent as possible, while others are hidden in the middle of massive mountains. Due to this inconvenient location, tourists avoid these places. After all, who wants to spend several days traveling? However, if you want peace and quiet, this is the place for you!
Sapa, Vietnam
This small, colorful town is well hidden among the mountain ranges. It is located near the Chinese border, not far from the top of Fanshipan. This is the highest point of the Indochina Peninsula. When you go here, don't expect to see historical monuments or architectural masterpieces. There are none here. However, there are many natural wonders.
Go to Thac Bac Waterfall, the Underwater Palace, and the bamboo forest. Be sure to visit the local tribes. These people have not lost their national identity and honor their traditions and customs. And don't forget to stop by the market. Various folk festivals are often organized here.
Gasadalur, Denmark
The picturesque village is located in an incredibly beautiful valley on the island of Voar in the Faroe archipelago. Its shores are washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The only attractions here are the unique flora and fauna. Thus, it is for the sake of natural wonders that travelers come here.
The village is surrounded by high cliffs on almost all sides. To get to the other part of the island, the locals have to use a path that goes up as much as 400 meters. Due to this isolation and inaccessibility, the population is gradually decreasing. As of 2002, only 16 people officially lived here.
However, things have recently taken a turn for the better for Gasadalur. A mountain road tunnel was built to the village, so people began to return here.
Rougon, France
A small French village is nestled among the Alpine mountains. According to official data, less than 100 people live here, and tourists don't come here often. Nevertheless, there is everything for life here: a church, a school, several cafes, shops, and even a hostel. However, there are no streets as they are simply not needed here.
As with the previous locations, people come here for the beautiful scenery. The village itself is located on the edge of the Verdon Gorge in the Verdon Regional Nature Park.
Monemvasia, Greece
This picturesque village was built on the island of the same name, which is washed by the Aegean Sea. It is quite easy to get here from the mainland: there is a good transport and pedestrian bridge.
The settlement inherited its name from an ancient fortress, of which only ruins remain. Unlike other towns, Monemvasia boasts architectural gems. To see them, you just need to take a walk through the streets. There are a museum, the Byzantine church of Hagia Sophia, several cafes, and a hotel. All recreational and dining facilities are located in old houses.
Undredal, Norway
The tiny village boasts a constant stream of tourists. Although less than 100 people live here. They come here to admire the unique fjord surrounded by mountains on all sides. You rarely see such a natural wonder anywhere else. Hence the enormous popularity.
Travelers are also attracted to Brunost brown cheese. It is made from goat's milk. It is not something special for Scandinavian countries. It's an ordinary delicacy, like brynza for us.
Since the settlement is often visited by guests, the infrastructure is more or less developed here. There are cafes, restaurants, a hotel, shops, and souvenir shops.
Bandiagara, Mali
The town is located on the banks of the Yamé River. Due to the arid climate, the reservoir is slowly disappearing from the face of the Earth. Researchers are sure that in a few more years, there will be no trace of it.
The Dogon tribe lives here. And their houses are very different from ours. They are all made of wood and colored clay. Not far from the village is the Bandiagara Highlands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Isortoq, Greenland
Getting to this ice village is an asterisked task. It is truly inaccessible as it is surrounded by ice and snow on all sides. The journey may seem difficult, but it is definitely worth it.
This village is located on the shores of the Denmark Strait in the Sermersooq County. It is the smallest in Greenland. The locals are engaged in fishing and hunting. They buy other products in the store, which is the only one in Isortoq. There are no hotels here, but the locals will not be afraid to let you stay overnight.
Introverts and all travelers looking for total solitude will definitely appreciate these locations. Enjoy your trip!
