Cave monastery
It is located on the southeastern outskirts of the village of Rozhirche in the Stryi district at an altitude of 443 meters above sea level.
The rocky sandstones were formed about 70 million years ago. The religious center was first mentioned in the second half of the fifteenth century. It is said that the monks who fled the Tatar invasion when they destroyed Kyiv and other cities of Kyivan Rus in the 1200s lived here.
The monks kept to silence and solitude. They rarely spoke to each other and focused on prayer and spiritual practices. Peasants were allowed to visit them only with the consent of the abbot.
Their modest diet consisted of berries and mushrooms. They received a small income from selling honey from their apiary.
The hike starts from the Stynava-Nyzhnia station, which can be reached by train.
Pryima tract
It is located in Mykolaiv district in the village of Veryn.
Once upon a time, the natural center served as a home for Neanderthals. This is the second known settlement of ancient people in Ukraine.
In the caves, archaeologists found the remains of a woman and children whose age is more than 45 thousand years. They also found tools and traces of their activities.
According to research, the tribe set up a winter hunting camp here.
By the way, during the Second World War, a German FW-190 plane crashed near the grotto while performing a training flight. The pilot was killed, and the wreckage of the aircraft can still be found at the crash site.
Start your journey to the location from the village of Rozvadiv.
Skolivski Beskydy National Park
Located in the southern part of Lviv region within the Stryi, Sambir and Drohobych districts.
First, go to the Hurkalo waterfall, which consists of a single cascade. There are several comfortable lawns for tents and overnight stays near the waterfall.
Next, climb Mount Parashka. Its height reaches 1,268 meters above sea level. There is a legend that the peak was named in honor of the daughter (or, according to another version, the wife) of Prince Sviatoslav, the son of Volodymyr the Great. According to it, she was killed here by the soldiers of Svyatopolk the Accursed in 1015.
Also, go to the Sopit waterfall near the village of the same name. According to one version, the reservoir was named in honor of the founder of the Sopka settlement, and according to another - because of the Sopotianka River, the rapids of which create a sound resembling a whisper.
Chortiv kamin
It is located in the village of Pidkamin, Brody district.
There is a unique 16-meter-high geological formation on the hill. According to experts, it was probably formed at the bottom of the ancient Sarmatian Sea millions of years ago.
Archaeological research suggests that the stone could have served as a fortification back in the days of the Galician-Volyn principality. This is confirmed by two caves nearby, one of which is an underground temple and the other is a shelter for monks.
Also, visit the Dominican Monastery in the same settlement.
Gredel's Palace
Located in the town of Skole, Stryi district. The building was founded by Baron Eugeniusz Kinski in the nineteenth century. Later, the Jewish family of Gredel rebuilt the estate in the Neo-Baroque style.
Between 1939 and 1948, when Skole was under Soviet rule, the palace served as the location of a department of the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs of the USSR, which occupied the building twice - first in 1939 and then from 1944 to 1948.
The attraction is surrounded by a park, and a fountain is located in front of the building.
