In the summer, it became known that Marvel Studios is preparing two new films about the Avengers, a favorite superhero team. And it seems that they will have more high-profile comebacks than the previously promised comeback of Robert Downey Jr.

At least two actors have already stated that they would not mind returning to their roles in the comic book universe. As OBOZ.UA has found out, these are Josh Brolin, who played the cosmic villain Thanos, and Gwyneth Paltrow, who embodied Iron Man's beloved Pepper Potts.

In an interview with Collider, Brolin said that he wouldn't mind reprising his role if the story is "right." "I'm not kidding - there's something about playing Thanos," he said. He added: "Thanos has to be right if you're going to bring him back. I would do anything that the Russo brothers (franchise directors – ed.) would want me to do."

Brolin's return doesn't seem unrealistic, in part because one of the two planned Avengers movies is to be based on the 2015 Marvel comic book storyline in which different realities collide and Battleworld is formed. This makes it possible for any characters from the multiverse to return. Even the dead ones.

As for Pepper Potts, insider Daniel Richtman hinted at her appearance in the franchise's reboot. According to him, the studio is now thinking about giving Gwyneth Paltrow this role again. However, Richtman noted that he did not know whether any negotiations had already been held with her on this matter.

It's noteworthy that Paltrow herself had previously commented on the likelihood of her return to Marvel films. When asked about this, she joked that she was not interested if her on-screen partner Robert Downey Jr. did not play the caped crusader. As it was previously reported, the actor agreed to return to the superhero universe. This time, he will play the villain Dr. Doom.

As previously reported, Marvel is currently working on two new Avengers movies at once. The studio has even set the dates of their premieres. Thus, "Avengers: Doomsday" should be released on May 1, 2026, and "Avengers: Secret Wars" – on May 7, 2027. It was decided to revive the superhero team amid the crisis with new films. They do not collect the desired box office and do not please the audience and critics.
