'Survived, and that's the main thing': Shahed attack destroyed Kowalsky's telethon host's apartment

The apartment of the family of Ukrainian journalist Andriy Kovalsky was damaged during a Russian drone attack on Kyiv on the evening of December 21. The apartment was located on the upper floors of a building in the Solomensky district, which was hit and caught fire.

The TV presenter confirmed the incident on his Facebook page. He said that his family - his wife and children - were unharmed.

"Friends, thank you all for your support. Everyone is safe, and that's good," the Ukrainian wrote.

His wife, Tatiana Khytryk, wrote on social media: "We survived, and that's the main thing... The apartment is gone now".

Andriy Kovalsky is a Ukrainian sports journalist, ICTV TV presenter, and host of the United News marathon. He made his first appearance as a TV presenter in 1999.

In the evening of December 21, the Russian occupation army traditionally launched Shahed kamikaze drones in Ukraine. The UAVs reached Kyiv, and explosions were heard in the capital.

A residential high-rise building was damaged in Solomianskyi district, and debris was also seen falling in Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts. In the latter, an unfinished two-story building caught fire.

At least two people were injured in Solomyansky district. One man was hospitalized. The second victim was treated on the spot.

- The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that with the improvement of weather conditions, the enemy has increased the intensity of the use of tactical aircraft and FPV quadcopters. The occupiers have increased the number of air strikes and artillery attacks.
