Breza-Boucher wins the women's sprint in Oberhof

The women's sprint race at the fourth stage of the Biathlon World Cup, which started on January 5 in Oberhof, Germany, ended with the victory of the overall leader Justine Brez-Boucher of France. The representative of the "Gallic Roosters" team won the race despite two misses and a significant gap between the intermediate leaders.

The race was held in difficult weather conditions - Germany experienced warm weather, which led to an almost complete absence of snow. In addition, the biathletes were hampered by light rain from time to time. This resulted in many athletes not being able to shoot cleanly at the firing lines.

Breza managed to miss twice already on the bed. This dropped her to 33rd position and put her 48 seconds behind the leaders. However, the Frenchwoman did not give up. Thanks to five targets out of five in the standing shooting, she was able to outrun all her rivals, covering 7.5 kilometers in 22 minutes and 43 seconds.

Anastasia Merkushyna

Franziska Prois from Germany took second place, and another Frenchwoman, Sophie Chauvet, won bronze. Both winners lost less than five seconds to Breza. The best among Ukrainian women was Anastasia Merkushyna, who was 1 minute and 45 seconds behind the winner, taking the final 27th place.
