Although winter is not considered a season of active work in the garden, every experienced gardener knows that it is in January that you need to start laying the foundations for the future harvest. So in January, some gardeners start sowing seedlings in order to have strong and developed plants that will take root well in the beds in the spring.
Moreover, they often check the lunar calendar to ensure that the development of seedlings is as good as possible. OBOZ.UA tells you which days, according to this calendar, will be the most successful this January, and when you should not do gardening.
Favorable days in January
The list of January activities, in addition to working directly with seedlings, also includes preparing seed and soil, caring for tools and equipment, planning beds, purchasing the necessary agrochemicals, and arranging lighting systems for seedlings. There will be plenty of good days for this next month.
So, January 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13, 22, 23, 27, 28, and 31 will be good dates to prepare for the gardening season.
What and when to plant in January 2025
If you're ready to start working with seedlings, consider the dates that are considered good for certain individual crops. Here are the plants you can sow and when:
- tomatoes (early varieties) - January 5-6, 8-9, 15-16, 21-22;
- eggplants - January 6-7, 9-11, 15-16, 23-24;
- sweet peppers - January 5-7, 10-12, 20-22;
- celery on the root - January 10-12, 16-17, 21-22;
- greens - January 8-9, 13-14, 18-19.
Unfavorable days in January 2025
If you garden on such days, it is believed that the work will be less effective. Plants will be weaker and more vulnerable to external conditions. Fortunately, there will be few unfavorable dates in January. So, you should take a break on the following dates: January 14-16, 29, and 30.
However, even on these days, you can still prepare tools and purchase materials. The date on the lunar calendar does not have a strong influence on such work - only on work with live plants.
