Olympic high jump champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh spoke about her coach Tetiana Stepanova. Tetiana is the mother of Nazar Stepanov, whom Yaroslava intends to marry.

According to our track and field athlete, working with Stepanova is a bit difficult because of her mentor's excessive emotionality.

"We have been working together for a long time since I was 11 years old. There are a couple of drawbacks in our work that we are trying to work on. The first disadvantage is that she is very emotional. Sometimes, if something goes wrong, she can scream, even very loudly, and then five minutes later she will calm down and be normal again. Now she is also working on this because it is important to stay calm. After all, nerves also take energy.

The second disadvantage is that she doesn't go to interviews and doesn't want to. I tell her what she needs to do because it helps to popularize the work of the coach, and she always stands behind the athlete," Mahuchikh said on the YouTube channel The Sport Dnipro Ukraine.

Mahuchikh admits that without Stepanova, she would not have achieved the results she has now.

"Over the years, we have become friends, we get along, we understand each other at a glance. During training sessions, Tetiana Volodymyrivna always sees my emotional state, understands when I am doing well and when I am not, and what I am capable of," Rosia added.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Yaroslava came to the Golden Tracks 2024 ceremony together with Stepanov.

Yaroslava made a real splash with her appearance at this event. Our compatriot won the award "Best Athlete in Europe."

As Mahuchikh told us before the 2024 Olympics, she and Nazar were supposed to get married after the Games in Paris.

However, Yaroslava was forced to postpone the wedding for a while, as she saw the possibility of holding the ceremony during Russia's full-scale war against our country.

In an interview with OBOZ.UA, Nazar said that he was in love with the way Yaroslava treats everything.

Later, Nazar Stepanov admitted that he proposed to Rosia in the presence of his parents. The young people chose an engagement ring together for a touching ceremony, which the 20-year-old hurdler took very seriously.

It should be noted that at the 8th stage of the Diamond League in Paris, Mahuchikh broke the world record in the women's high jump, which had been held since 1987. Yaroslawa became the first woman in history to jump 2.10 meters.
