Scandal of the day. Referees stole the World Cup final from Terliuga, staging "incredible trash" and "breaking" the Ukrainian
Ukrainian karate master Angelika Terliuga did not reach the final of the World Championships, which are taking place in Budapest these days. In the semifinals of the 55 kg weight category, the 31-year-old from Odesa lost to Bulgarian athlete Ivet Goranova.
Initially, the Ukrainian won with a score of 14:11, but then Goranova's side filed a protest, saying that the stopwatch did not work in the middle of the fight. The judges decided to resume the fight from the 1:17 mark with a score of 5:4 in favor of Goranova. As a result, the second fight ended with a score of 4:6 not in our favor.
After that, Terliuga wrote a poignant post on social media, saying that she would never forgive the International Karate Federation for that day.
"The worst thing that could have happened happened to me today. I honestly won all the fights - and this semifinal was incredible. Every point that was in this fight was fair. Then the judge gave me the victory when the time ran out. I have never felt so happy as I did at that moment. And then the trash begins... An injustice that I just can't believe! Why did this happen? Why? Why me?" Terliuga asks.
The Ukrainian cannot believe that the judges simply found some mistake with the timer and then made her go and fight again.
"And they started with a score where I lose! You didn't even make a new fight. My heart is aching, my hands are shaking as I write all these words, I want to scream in pain, and I don't know what to do next," our karateka could hardly contain her emotions.
After a while, Terliuga published a second post where she openly accused the International Karate Federation of stealing, demanding a response from them.
"You stole my final! You stole my dream! You broke me today. Why do I have to fight over things or refereeing mistakes again? Why did you do this to me?" Angelica summarized.
