"Salivating". Krasiuk tells for the first time what happened to Usyk in the United States
The promoter of WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) recalled his debut in the United States in 2016, when the Ukrainian defended his WBO heavyweight title. In Los Angeles, the then 29-year-old Crimean knocked out South African Tabiso Mchuna (23-7, 13 KOs) on the undercard of the Hopkins-Joe Smith Jr. fight.
According to Oleksandr Krasiuk, when they arrived in Los Angeles for the show, the local audience was impressed by Usyk's charisma. Back then, Oleksandr spoke only a few words of English.
"He didn't even say I'm feeling yet. He was just getting ready to say I'm very feel. And then, before Hopkins' long and boring speech, Usyk was invited on stage. Usyk comes out and says: "Hello everyone. I'm Oleksandr Usyk See you Saturday night. And that's it. I look at the reaction of the audience. There are journalists, ordinary people, the writing fraternity. And they are salivating," Vringe.com quoted Krasiuk as saying.
The promoter is shocked by what happened.
"Well, I mean... A person came out. She didn't say anything. And they are sitting there, and they all look at him when he leaves the stage. This is charisma. In its purest form," summarized Oleksandr Krasiuk.
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, Krasiuk, commenting on the situation with the postponement of the fight against WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), said that there is a system of reserve boxers who should ensure that the show goes ahead anyway. For the first time, Oleksandr admitted that a similar situation occurred in Moscow when Usyk fought a local fighter, Murat Gasiev.
